Home About Shreyo foundation
We, at Shreyo foundation, campaign our aspirations to keep alive the traditional art form – Rangoli. Our intention is to dedicate a day to observe International Rangoli Day.
Yoga has its tradition and history in India and has been widely accepted all over the world. The exclusive International Yoga Day rejoices and celebrates the benefits that one achieves through yoga. In the same way, we intend to celebrate the many benefits that the rangoli art form can bring into our lives.
We believe that Rangoli is the origin of all art forms and artistic expressions. Simple and intricate pattern drawn by hand, better known as Rangoli, is a tradition all over India. Sadly, this tradition is on a steep decline and on the verge of extinction. The very intention of this foundation is to uphold the tradition of Rangoli. Rangoli designs are never limited but always inclusive. Through this artistic expression, one can convey day-to-day activities, folk stories, election canvassing and anything that creates awareness amongst people.
Drawing a Rangoli pattern requires the use of the thumb and the pointing finger in the ‘Chin mudra’, which connects us to our higher Self, creates a more receptive state of mind, increases concentration, brings calmness, uplifts mood to create positive energy around us. It also gives us the strength to watch our precious Rangoli creation being wiped off.
We can portray the traditions of other countries through Rangoli and with a day as the International Rangoli Day, we can celebrate this traditional art form and make the world a more colourful place to live in. We request everyone to support us in our campaign.
